When I relocated to Portland in 2001, I knew my love for nature and my connection to it was strong. I was deeply moved by the mystical and powerful feeling that overcame me when I was amongst the rivers and the mountains. I knew I had found my place. I spent much of my free time submerged in the forest—identifying plants, while continuing to wonder about the gift of nature and my place in it. I received a bachelor’s degree in biology to obtain a deeper understanding of the natural world. From there, I was a microbiologist working in the lab for several informative yet uninspiring years. So when I wanted to utilize my intrinsic artistry, I combined ecology, sustainability and imagination into an ever evolving career in landscape design. To achieve this goal, I studied landscape design at PCC through the landscape technology program which brought me to founding my own company, Ecorhythm.
Bringing people and nature through design has become my passion. I have worked with various landscape companies in the Portland area for many years and continue to enjoy gaining more knowledge on plant community dynamics and design through form and function. Living in the PNW for 22 years drives my design aesthetics towards native plants and a natural design, but I love working with more modern and contemporary elements as well. Every family and every home has unique needs and style—the fun part is combining all of this together to deliver a beautiful outdoor living space with lush and interactive gardens with my clients!
